Newest! The University of Arkansas at Fayetteville has a special web section on their website to benefit nontraditional students. It includes Student Success Stories, Scholarship and Award Opportunities, an Adult Student Handbook, and Childcare Links. Good job, University of Arkansas at Fayetteville!
There is a student group at Southern Arkansas University in Magnolia, Arkansas. The President said she is always looking for new resources for their members. She is an enthusiastic nontraditional student herself.
From the President: "Our group, Non Traditional Student Organization 's (NTSO) mission is to make going to school a little easier. We know that there are many things that one must consider when thinking of continuing their education from how to pay for it to how supportive their families will be.
I know that as a wife and mother I had many things to think about and many sacrifices to 'justify' before I could in good conscience become a student. The NTSO is here to make that a bit easier! We provide our students with information on available resources both on campus and off. We also provide a support system for our students from informal tutoring by other non trads to staff mentors who can help bridge the gap between teachers and students.
There are always great activities happening here on the SAU campus so we get our non trad students involved in campus life too! It has been a wonderful way for non traditional students including myself to really enjoy my college experience!"
