WHAT
IS A PODCAST?
A
podcast is a recorded or live show that you can download to
a player or play on your computer. There are many different
kinds of podcasts - radio shows, talk shows, music podcasts,
blogger podcasts, course and lesson podcasts, and more.
HOW
I LISTEN TO PODCASTS
I
listen to podcasts with an MP3 player, and also on my computer,
using earphones and a wireless headphone set. I usually am doing
something else as I listen. I do other things -- fix the house,
work in the garden, etc. while I have a podcast playing.
PODCASTS
FOR NON-TRADITIONAL STUDENTS
There
are many podcasts that are of value to the non-traditional student.
I have included some here, along with some websites where you
can discover your own, personalized podcasts to listen to. There
are many podcasts, and most are completely FREE.
I
like podcasts because they are portable, plus you can also play
them on your computer without going through a lot of extra work.
Most aren't too long, so you can switch to another podcast (or
have your player do it automatically) quickly and start new
stories or advice.
There
are podcasts for virtually every hobby or interest. I personally
enjoy learning type podcasts or talk shows, but there are also
great music shows and interviews, too. There are podcasts for
classes now, so you may already be listening to a podcast for
one of your classes.
